ABOUT US
Beasley Drug Company was opened in 1934 by Ralph Beasley (pictured above). Originally across the street in what had been the Corner Drug Store, Mr. Beasley purchased the current location from the Mason’s and moved over in 1942. The building was at the time occupied by both a bank and a billiard hall and was divided into 2 separate spaces. The pharmacy occupied only 1 side (the side where the bank had been) until Mr. Beasley renovated in 1964 and had a grand re-opening. The soda fountain was a part of the business from the very beginning. Mr. Beasley worked with several local notables including Skinny Walker who went on to open Walker/Warren Drug Store on the next corner after he and Mr. Beasley decided there was enough business in town to support 2 pharmacies. Mr. Beasley hired Ronnie Brown and Anthony Norton as well. These young men worked at Beasley’s around the time Mr. Beasley died and helped Bill Spivey run the drug store for a while until they decided to open their own store and founded Conyers Pharmacy. Bill Spivey bought the store after Mr. Beasley passed away and ran it well for 22 years. During that time Vince Evans came to own Walker/Warren Drug Store and renamed it Evans Pharmacy. When Dr. Bill was ready to move on, Mr. Evans took the space over and moved Evans Pharmacy in. Mr. Evans ran the business with great success for 19 years after which he passed the business along to its current owner, Ora Bailey. Ora is the granddaughter of Ralph Beasley and proudly carries on the pharmacy tradition in Olde Town Conyers. There is a lot more history to this building and this business, so come in for a coffee or an ice cream sometime and find out all about it!
